This came up today, the whole sensitive to crisis-laden friends thing.
When do we stop tip-toeing around said people?? Would it be enough to give them 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or as long as they need?
Is there an acceptable social norm for this kind of thing?

At some point in time, it becomes an obligation for friends to interrupt the bitter/defensive rhetoric/reverie that if left unchecked might just consume that person leaving nothing but an empty husk which echoes of what once was. Then we would have been remiss in our duty as a friend to that person.

But while that justifies changing the tune, the original question remains unanswered. When do we stop being sensitive and start being frank and trying to wake them up?

This leads me to another question.
Is the measure of how much a person was loved determined by how long a person took to get over that person? Is it some sort of 'betrayal' if we grief for a shorter time than what we're supposed to?

So how?
